WHY WORKOUT ?

Here, we will go through all the benefits to working out.

I’m assuming by the sheer fact you’re here you’ve probably found your reason, but if you haven’t or you need extra convincing, let me help.

PHYSICAL BENEFITS 💪🏻

  • It doesn't take a genius to explain this one. If you want to lose weight, moving more will help, if you want to gain size, hitting the weights will get you there.

  • Weight training will obviously build strength, for both inside and outside the gym. Nobody wants to be weak. Need we say anymore

  • Weight bearing activities promote bone remodelling which makes your bones denser, reducing the risk of osteoporosis. You might not worry about this now, especially if you're younger, but at some point you will be thankful for avoiding this.

  • Working out can increase the strength of ligaments and tendons.

Also, it can increase the range of motion at joints reducing the chance of injury.

The stronger and more flexible your ligaments are, the better you will feel.

  • Regular exercise enhances your immune system function, promoting better circulation, improved immune cell activity, anti-inflammatory effects, stress reduction, temperature elevation, and collectively contributing to a reduced likelihood of illness.

Obviously there are loads of other factors into play with this one, but it's crazy how little you get ill, if you exercise and take your vitamins.

  • If sleep could be sold it would be priceless. It is the single greatest thing you can do for yourself.

Often people suffer with poor sleep due to not exerting enough energy throughout the day. Or maybe they don't feel tired so they stay up too late.

This where exercise is extremely beneficial, as it will increase energy output.

This will make you feel more tired and a huge improvement in sleep duration and quality.

  • The post workout ‘high’ speaks for itself.

Combatted with pride within yourself for completing the workout, you will notice and increase in mood and energy levels.

It boosts overall energy and reduces feeling of fatigue.

It sounds like backwards logic but the more you exercise, the more your body adapts to producing more mitochondria which are responsible for producing 'energy'.

  • Training your muscles equally will hep get rid of the tightness and weakness some of your muscles have which lead to poor posture.

  • The more you exercise, the more energy output your body has, therefore it can boost your metabolism, aiding in potential weight loss.

MENTAL BENEFITS 🧠

  • Lets not beat around the bush, exercising makes you look good or atleast better. Look better, feel better its simple.

Achieving fitness goals really does help boost the self esteem about yourself, you feel more confident because you know you are capable of achieving things.

  • Exercise helps release endorphins, which act as natural stress relievers, reducing those feelings of tension and anxiety.

It also acts a release for many people. Any stressors currently affecting you can seem to rub off on the weights you lift. Giving you a huge reduction in stress.

  • Physical activity stimulates the production of neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine, promoting feelings of happiness and well-being.

This is often the case after a strenuous workout you feel really good about yourself for getting through it and training hard.

From many many personal experiences, sometimes when a day seems ruined, you just need something to lift your mood which lifting weights does perfectly.

  • Exercise has been linked to improved memory, attention, and overall cognitive function. Healthy body, healthy mind.

  • Physical activity promotes relaxation and can be an effective way to unwind and de-stress. It also means your body needs to work to recover these muscles which can help you feel relaxed.

  • Going to the gym 3-7 days a week takes discipline for most. So this will naturally be improved throughout your journey.

Exercising is somewhere you can develop this skill overtime to really push yourself doing what you hate.

This skill carries over into all other aspects of life to wherever you set your mind to next.

  • Regular exercise has been shown to alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety, acting as a complementary therapy.

From personal experience, I can promise you this helps more than you can imagine. Finding purpose in exercising is what brought me out the rut.
